Chillin' and Shopping at The San Jose Flea Market

Updated: Jun 18, 2023

I had not been to the San Jose Flea market in years, so when my son suggested the idea, I was quite excited. When we arrived on Saturday, we walked up and down the aisles and looked at all the beautiful wares. There is so much to discover and so many choices.

After a while, I was thirsty, but not thirsty enough to pay $8 for an agua fresca. Suddenly, out of the corner of my eye, I spotted a sign for raspados. Again with the $8, but I wanted the raspado, you only live once. I was not expecting much, but once I was handed my raspado, I felt like a little girl, again. The cherry raspado was towering out of the cup and it was so juicy. It never ran out of juice. There were, also, gummies tossed around. It was definitely worth the $8.

We, then, ventured to the produce area; it is rather large. You do need to shop for bargains, everything is pricey. I did find some beautiful large avocados, 3 for $5. I have got to have my avocados. I, also, picked up some mini mangos for my mom.

I did not buy a lot, but I did pick up some pretty earrings. i know that I can make them, but they were really pretty and well made. The gentleman told me they were made with fishing wire. I, also, found some miniatures, a little plate with enchiladas, a coffee mug and a bowl. I have been collecting miniatures for many years and have a few projects up my sleeve.

To end the day, we went and picked up some pan dulce from Dulcinea Baking Company in San Jose. It is a Oaxacan bakery. I love the mini conchas because they are the right size for me. The pan dulce is super fresh and moist. I definitely recommend stopping by this bakery.
